I've always loved wildflowers. Dolly Parton's song called "Wildflowers", has a line that goes like this - ..WILD FLOWERS DON'T CARE WHERE THEY GROW... (I have a link to the song on this blog - so have a listen). I've always thought of myself as a wild flower; I'll put my roots anywhere. This blog is mostly about my "wild" garden, our pond, the birds and insects that visit, it`s about our animals, and our home projects.

Conference
The past 3 days were spent in Vancouver attending my annual BC Human Resource Management Association conference. The highlight for me was an opening presentation from one of my all time favorite Canadian comedian and actor Rick Mercer.
The conference centre is also the place where the Olympic torches live. What a surprise on Friday when all of a sudden the torches where lit and the flames flew up. I wasn't aware, but across Canada, April 27 is designated the Day of Mourning by the WCB, a time when workers, families, and employers come together to remember those who have lost their lives to work-related incidents or occupational diseases. It was quite moving.
