Nose Surgery

Almost no one gets through life without a few scars. You can probably trace some milestones with a tour of your own skin: the chicken pox you couldn’t stop scratching when you were 6, the time you fell off your bike; oh the list is long.

If you’ve been diagnosed with a form of skin cancer and need to have it surgically removed, well you can count on another scar to add to the collection! The scar is much better thought, than if it stayed undiagnosed and continued to grow.

So Wednesday I had to go to the hospital for my basil cell carcinoma removal. Surgeon said it's bigger than he thought and drew a circle around what he needed to cut out.

He also said it meant that I'd have more stitches than he thought, and that he's have to go right down and through the cartilage.  Didn't last long and I left with a lovely bandage, not knowing what lay hidden underneath.

 

I had to leave the bandage on for 24 hours and when I took it off I was shocked to find 5 stitches.  Yikes!

The incision is not a straight line so it will be interesting to see what kind of scar I will end up with once the stitches are out and it heals.  It's quite swollen and starting to bruise as well.  I'm quite the beauty on Bowen!.
