Bees and Bees

I await each summer for the blooming of the globe thistle.  With it come the bees that stick to the plant all day.

Our water babies are doing well this summer, despite the drought!   While the pond is down 3 feet, Fred and his 2 mates are happy and content in their water eden.

VEGETABLES

This year's vegetable crop includes leeks, runner beans, beet root, zucchini, cucumber, tomato and some odd sqash that was supposed to be spaghetti squash - but it isn't.  We are already harvesting our cucumbers:

And this odd squash is apparently something called Peter Pan squash. I picked 3 tonight, and there are at least 20 more on the vine!  Whatever shall I do?  I cooked fresh beans and zucchini tonight, but Chris is not a fan of  basic squash, so God knows what we will do with these funny things - I will need to google them.

FRUIT ?

Four apple trees have we, and this year only one has produced. Fortunately for Chris it is the Cox Pippin; - his favorite.

Our italian prune plums are 40 at last count. it's a 3 year old tree so this is really the first good year for some fruit. They are still green, so hopefully they will ripen by September.

 The raspberries have been the star performer this year, and our freezer is full. Can't say I am sorry they are about finished... we have had our fill this year for sure.
