I've always loved wildflowers. Dolly Parton's song called "Wildflowers", has a line that goes like this - ..WILD FLOWERS DON'T CARE WHERE THEY GROW... (I have a link to the song on this blog - so have a listen). I've always thought of myself as a wild flower; I'll put my roots anywhere. This blog is mostly about my "wild" garden, our pond, the birds and insects that visit, it`s about our animals, and our home projects.

Easy Recipe for Tomato, Basil and Bocconcini Skewers
Ok - so this appie recipe is making its rounds on Bowen. It is so simple, and yet so yummy!
- wrap a basil leaf around a small bocconcini ball, skewer it with a sturdy toothpick to keep leaf in place, then add a grape or cherry tomato to the end.
- make a balsamic reduction and drizzle slightly over the toothpick skewer
Voila - everyone will love them.

My Foot Surgery
Ah yes, I forgot to mention that on Tuesday (22nd) I had minor surgery on my foot to remove large bone spurs from 2 toe joints. Yes, it was "ouch". The doctor said they were quite significant when she got in there, but was pleased to say that she was able to free up the joints and that I should be able to fully flex and bend the joints now. I am on crutches since i can put any weight on my foot for a week.... I have anti-inflamitories and some pain pills, by it is day 3 and already the paid is easing up. When I see the doctor in a week she will let me know if I can put any weight on it and also if i can drive (I have a standard and need my left foot for the clutch). The stitches come out on Jan. 8th, but it will take about 2 months i am told to be active with walking or running. As I sit around with my foot elevated.. Chris is being my care-giver and chauffeur (lucky me!!!).. Not exactly how I planned Chirstmas, but this had to be done, and the sooner the better.
