Mini Getaway

Oh yes I really did get away for 2 nights. First time since 2015 if not longer.  Took my friend Susan to Courtney on Vancouver Island to visit her mom.  Amazing how many meals and stops and shops you can cram into 2 days.

Lunch at Cuckoo at Coombes was the best flat crust pizza ever and Caesar salad.

Of course you can't visit Coombes without taking a photo of the goats on the market roof.

Outside Bamboozle shop.  Just loved the bicycle.

The view from my room at Kingfishet Resort near Courtney

The view to the patio bistro.

Dinner was another awesome Caesar salad with prosciutto

Breakfast  was s healthy steel cut oats and fruit.

And end it all with a nice beach stroll.

Family Visits

It was so great to have Mike and Shae cone for 3 days this past week. We've not been to Campbell River for a while and they have not been to Bowen for  a while either.  it was great to catch up.  Ajax got to meet Frodo and Mike got a chance to play poker against his dad.

Around The Garden

Flower therapy is what I call it.  Flowers just plain and simple make me happy.  Here are this summers garden highlights.

Shasta Daisy

Culverts Root  with Foxglove and Miscanthus grass in the background.

Waterlily in the pond

Succulents - Hens Chicks near the pond

The Round Towel

Roy Henry Vickers is one of my favourite west coast native artists.   Recently I learned he designed his first round towel in collaboration with the Tofino Round Towel Company.  When I saw this picture of it I knew I had to have one.   Plus it's reversible.

It is a limited editon design of Eagles Moon which I just happen to have a print of hanging in my office.   So I ordered one and it arrived nicely packaged.

Here it is spread out for viewing on the queen size bed.  It's very cool.  What a great Towel and what a great wrap around size!!!

Mr Smoke. Well ok he's not in the garden. He's put out by Ajax so he hangs out in the safe zone.

Walks and Photos

Thanks to Ajax I'm starting to get more exercise going for trail walks.   It also gives me an opportunity to take photos as well.  Mostly I upload to Instagram but I've just learned how to use my phone to post to this blog.  Some of my favourite walk photos are below:

Let's not forget the fruit trees. The apples are plentiful on all 4 trees this year.  Yay!!!

Everything is going well so far due to the wet spring.  It would be nice to have a bit of rain now to break the heat wave.

Happy Birthday Canada

Celebrating 150 years of confederation.   A good time weekend for all!
