The coast winds do blow
They’ve brought us some snow
And what will poor Smoke-boy do now?
He’ll sit out on the mat
Like a very good cat
And wait till we open the door.
I've always loved wildflowers. Dolly Parton's song called "Wildflowers", has a line that goes like this - ..WILD FLOWERS DON'T CARE WHERE THEY GROW... (I have a link to the song on this blog - so have a listen). I've always thought of myself as a wild flower; I'll put my roots anywhere. This blog is mostly about my "wild" garden, our pond, the birds and insects that visit, it`s about our animals, and our home projects.

Snow Boy
The coast winds do blow
They’ve brought us some snow
And what will poor Smoke-boy do now?
He’ll sit out on the mat
Like a very good cat
And wait till we open the door.

2011 - Let Go and Live!
Life is full of endless possibilities and if we don't act on them, we stagnate. I started my new year out with a trip to Kelowna to see my very dearest friends Patti and Jim. The snowy road conditions in the mountain passes could have deterred me, but hey, there is joy in every adventure and I had a safe and awesome road trip and a great new year visit with friends of the heart. Between bubbly wine, prawns, ravioli, chicken cacciatori, broccoli soup and beef wellinton, (no not all at one sitting) we ate and laughed and shared. Patti and I shopped as well, got some good boxing day bargains, I got a hair cut, painted my toes, and threw away some old baggage. I have been the frantic woman running around with her head cut off, and this little get-away gave me the chance to choose the opportunity to let go of the chaos in my life and embrace today. Next week will still come and deadlines will fly by, and meetings and appointments will come and go, but by tomorrow, today will be gone. So here's to 2011, letting go, and living!
Make Your Toes Feel Like they Are on Vacation
Now this is a good way to start the year. Pamper your toes! It always makes you feel good and it's like you are on vacation. What better fun than two best friends looking after their feet. Up in Kelowna, Patti and I enjoyed a glass of bubbly and good sister-chick time. My 2011 calender by Suzy Toronto sums it up.. if flip-flops were the new dress standard, no matter where you are, you could wiggle your piggies, show off your pedicure, and feel like you are on vacation!

2010 - Another Year Over; A New One Just Ahead
Going back through the months brings fond memories of what seemed to be a very short year. It was an especially difficult year for me in many ways, at least the last quarter for sure, but with faith, family and friends, it seems so much less difficult when turning back the pages of my memories. I don't know what 2011 will hold, or what I will be blogging about, but I look forward to a really good year for 2011.
December 31st, 2010 - Setting in the West
New Year's eve, setting in the horizon. How fitting to watch the sun quickly sink down at the beach on this crisp, clear last day of the year. I was joined by my sister Pat.
Waiting For the Ferry Home
December 30th, 2010, the year is coming to and end and this is the last ferry ride home for the year after a day in town. I took these shots of the Queen of Capilano resting in her berth below the snow capped mountains surrounding Horseshoe Bay. Very chilly at -5c, we bought take-away fish and chips but it was too cold to eat outside so we walked back to the ferry line up and ate them in our car.
