I've always loved wildflowers. Dolly Parton's song called "Wildflowers", has a line that goes like this - ..WILD FLOWERS DON'T CARE WHERE THEY GROW... (I have a link to the song on this blog - so have a listen). I've always thought of myself as a wild flower; I'll put my roots anywhere. This blog is mostly about my "wild" garden, our pond, the birds and insects that visit, it`s about our animals, and our home projects.

"TRIXIE" My Littel Red Matrix
Well today I betrayed Chesterman. Well, just a little. Chesterman is my 2002 Toyota Rav4. He has 318,119km on him, and was the subject of my Dec. 27th post.
With 12 years of history together, he is the best darn reliable car I've had. When I think of the endless number of road-trips Chester and I have done, well, he's kept me safe and sound. He's listened to my rants, heard me cry and yell, he's put up with my singing, and has been a buddy in the snow. I was hoping he'd make it through to my retirement (whenever that might be).. but I think I've pushed him hard, and I'll let him rest a bit on island and skip the daily commute.
So yesterday I changed Chester's insurance from driving to work to "pleasure" only, and my friend Barb drove me to Valley Toyota in Chilliwack this morning to buy my 3rd Toyota. This time a 2014 Matrix, base model, manual transmission, and of course, "RED". So while I retire Chester, I have to look at it as though I am entering a new stage of life, a new beginning, new memories. Whereas most people would be elated about their new car purchase, I am a bit bummed that I now have a car loan, but at least the financing was 0%. I am content knowing that I have a reliable vehicle, but it reaffirms the fact that I get much more joy spending money on experiences rather than things.
Here is my lovely sales lady "Yolanda" with me and my new Matrix: "Trixy"

A Simply Perfect Breakfast
Perfectly poached eggs are so easy and simple and make for a brilliant breakfast. Add poached smoke fish like this Black Alaskan Cod, and you have the most yummy breakfast in the world. This is one of Chris's favorite and it's starting to become one of mine as well.
Shadow
Me and my shadow; the slimmer version of course. Perhaps a foretelling of the legs to come in 2014 if I work out and lose some weight. In the meantime, I will cherish the shadow projection of me.
