Evening Boat Ride

Last night we circumnavigated our world of Bowen.. lovely evening and the only way we could get a breeze, even though the breeze in itself was warm. We went right around Bowen.. and at one point we saw a young stag on the rocks by the water where it appeared to be stranded since the tide had come it. I got a few photos - one of which you can see.. and in the end it swam around the corner to a beachy area to land.

Power Outage

Forgot to mention the power outage.. we lost power around 10pm last night but Hydro was able to restore it today at 1pm. Here is a shot of the candles last night I had going.

Electrical Storm

We had the most awesome thunder and lightening storm last night that lasted about 3 hours... and seemed to stay right above us. It was sheet lightening and the thunder was as loud as could be. I have only heard similar storms in spooky movies. The cool thing was the color of the sky. I caught a couple of pictures as youo can see, one is a rainbow in the middle of the rain and wind.

Little Birds

The Pine-Siskins are all around the yard today and I caught this photo as 3 of the little guys were drinking at our little fountain. Can you spot all 3 of them?

Wasp Attack

Yikes - must have stepped on a wasp nest or something tonight - I got a bit of a swarm, and 3 stings - one on my index finger one on my calf and another on my thigh. I've never been stung by a wasp before, only a bee. I must agree with my sister Pat.... it really does hurt. Thankfully my good neighbor across the way came to my rescue with some Benydryl and Lanacane. Still no call from the lottery people. By the way - this is not what bit me, but rather it is a giant moth that we have yet to identify.

No Phone Call Yet

Haven't heard from the lottery people yet... but it's still early. Non eventful day today, other than renewed my car insurance and dead headed in the garden. I'm off work for a bit, Christopher is away fishing so I am manning the fort so to speak. My friend Kelli visited me for the last 4 days and that was such fun. Trying to take a computer break from emails and work.... but now am working on this, so I suppose that is just as bad. Watched a hummingbird have a bath/shower in my fountain, it was so cute, but I didn't have my camera handy (darn). My yellow junceum is blooming and I love the smell.

July 24th, 2009 -

Well, today is the draw date for the HomeTown Heroes lottery, which I am planning on winning. I can't wait for the phone call. Didn't sleep great last night because I stayed up too late last night creating this blog. It is overcast today - feels good. I checked my bird feeders and found Smoke hiding in one of my garden trees. Here is a photo of the little sneek.

Caged Animals and Plants in Pots

More and more I have come to hate seeing animals in cages. Any kind of animal, fish or bird. If I could, I would set them all free. Today, as I was watering some potted plants.. I equated the plant to an animal in a cage. I then found a spot for the plant in my garden and freed it from the pot.
