I've always loved wildflowers. Dolly Parton's song called "Wildflowers", has a line that goes like this - ..WILD FLOWERS DON'T CARE WHERE THEY GROW... (I have a link to the song on this blog - so have a listen). I've always thought of myself as a wild flower; I'll put my roots anywhere. This blog is mostly about my "wild" garden, our pond, the birds and insects that visit, it`s about our animals, and our home projects.

February Long Weekend & Boat Show
This weekend is BC's first ever "Family Day" long weekend, and today we made our annual excursion to the Vancouver Boat Show. A stunning day for a trip overseas. We caught the 10:30am ferry from Bowen to town, and made our way to English Bay where we parked and boarded one of the little False Creek ferry boats which took us to Granville Island.
We love this mode of transport, no fussing with parking or traffic, just zipping between English Bay and Granville Island, enjoying the iconic harbour views.
This year,Granville Island offered one of the largest selections of in-water boats in Boat Show history. How they were able to manoeuvre and get so many boats docked into the marina was beyond us. It was a great place to start the show, as it is right in the prime location of the Granville Market for food and drinks. It's fun to look at the boats, which are totally unaffordable, but it is more fun to just enjoy the harbour views that surround False Creek and listen to the buskers playing their music and entertaining the crowds.
From there we caught a shuttle to BC Place stadium for the undercover trade show of exhibitors, products, boat displays and more.
Chris almost bought a new crab trap for the boat, but we didn’t want to have to carry it around. I almost bought a pair of deck boots and a nautical clock, but decided to save my pennies.
We stopped for fish and chips on the way back, or rather, Chris did. I displayed amazing won't power, and had a small piece of smoked salmon instead. Our return ferry to English Bay was a little choppy as a bit of wind blew in, but once on the other side and back to the Bowen ferry, the seas were calm again, and our ferry connection was seamless. For a late afternoon on February 10th, it was amazingly beautiful on deck, and a lovely day all in all.
