I took this shot of the sun 12 hours later at 7pm. So very eerie and also scarey that our province is so tinder dry.
I've always loved wildflowers. Dolly Parton's song called "Wildflowers", has a line that goes like this - ..WILD FLOWERS DON'T CARE WHERE THEY GROW... (I have a link to the song on this blog - so have a listen). I've always thought of myself as a wild flower; I'll put my roots anywhere. This blog is mostly about my "wild" garden, our pond, the birds and insects that visit, it`s about our animals, and our home projects.

Fires are Burning!
With forest fires raging all over our province, smoke from the fires covered not only our island like a blanket, but most of Vancouver, with ash falling all over us. An eerie early morning haze over the island was like looking through rose coloured sunglasses. The smell of fire was choking us. I took these 2 shots at 7am - and we are on the south west side of the island so it is not a pink sunrise you see, but a reflection of the ash in the air.
