Long and Thin and Covered in Skin

Took the Jake-meister for his little walk early this morning and was startled by this little creature. As usual I had my camera with me (still waiting to spot the elusive Bowen wolf) and snapped a quick shot of my first snake of the season! A common garter snake. It was all curled up and then shot out in front of me. I don't mind these snakes, they are kind of calming to watch. Click to enlarge.
